Sustainable Development Goals

17 Goals and 169 targets to Transform Our World!

The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are 17 objectives that all 193 UN Member States have agreed to achieve by the year 2030. All are the result of long-term negotiations and apply to all countries, recognizing different priorities and different levels of development. They are a call for action by all countries - poor, rich, and middle-income - to promote prosperity while protecting the environment. Also known as Global Goals, they build on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), eight anti-poverty targets that the world is committed to achieving by 2015. The SDGs call for a New Urban Agenda and identify the challenges to be addressed to achieve a better world for all. Goals address the global problems we face together, including those related to poverty, inequality, climate, environmental degradation, prosperity, peace, and justice.
EMU is supporting sustainable development goals in its teaching, research, and social responsibility activities.
