In the opening session, EMU Dr. Fazıl Küçük Faculty of Medicine academic staff member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Amber Eker Bakkaloğlu delivered a speech titled “Artificial Intelligence Supported Applications in Neuroscience”. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bakkaloğlu started her speech by stating that people, consciously or unconsciously, frequently use artificial intelligence-supported applications in their daily lives. Giving examples of artificial intelligence supported applications such as the voice search feature of phones, automatic face recognition in social networks, recognizing people's shopping preferences and offering them suggestions, or warnings about abnormal spending in banking transactions, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bakkaloğlu stated that in recent years, applications supported by artificial intelligence have also found a place in the field of science and neuroscience with an increasing momentum. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bakkaloğlu drew attention to the fact that in the field of health, these applications allow diagnosis, classification of diseases, and direction of treatment with great precision and speed.

In the session, examples of the work of Dr. Fazıl Küçük Faculty of Medicine and EMU Engineering Faculty in this field were touched upon. Despite these applications, which are expected to be used much more in the future, the importance of the work of doctors in the field of Medicine, where human communication is at the forefront, was emphasized, and it was underlined that human labor is still superior to artificial intelligence in making new discoveries in the field of science.
