Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) hosted the “21 March World Poetry Day” event organized in collaboration with Cyprus Artists and Writers Union (KSYB) and Cyprus Literature Association. Coordinated by Prof. Dr. Ümit İnatçı, Chair of the EMU Design and Research Center, the events commence on Friday, 21 March 2025 at 02:30 p.m. with a talk event held with poets. Said event continued with a musical recital at 05:00 p.m. The events organized at EMU Activity Center Hall were open to the public.

Talk and Musical Recital Held

Held with participation of poets from France, Türkiye and Cyprus, the event featured a talk titled “Poetry and Translation in Evolving World” which was moderated by Emel Kaya. Metin Cengiz, Tuğrul Keskin and Maria Siakalli participated in the event as guest speakers. Then, at 05:00 p.m. on the same day, a poetry and musical recital was performed in accompany of Atakan Sarı’s piano and Mustafa Fegan’s violin performance.

Numerous Poets Featured in the Event

Held with great interest from public, the event hosted numerous prominent figures from the literature world such as, Nafia Akdeniz, Bedia Balses, Fatma Akilhoca, Zeki Ali, Levent Atikoğlu, Hüseyin Bahca, Metin Cengiz, Alasios-Andreas Chrysanthou, Maria Chrysostomou, Kiriaki Drakou, Marios Georgiou, Katerina Herakleus, Mihalis P. Hristofidis, Giorgos Frangos, Ümit İnatçı, Ruhsan İskifoğlu, Emel Kaya, Tuğrul Keskin, Burçak Midilli, Tamer Öncül, Faize Özdemirciler, Jean Poncet, Jenan Selçuk, Maria Siakalli, Dimitra Sokratous, Tuğçe Tekhanli and Neşe Yaşın.

At the end of the event, poets participating in the event were thanked for their contributions to literature and art world and, presented with certificates of participation.
