TOLES Graduates Meet a EMUCareer Days

As part of the 13th International Career Days, Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Alumni Communication and Career Research Directorate (MIKA) organized ‘TOLES Graduates Summit’ in collaboration with the EMU Faculty of Law, EMU Law Club, and the TOLES (Test of Legal English Skills) Promotion and Events Team operating under the EMU Law Club. Held at LA1 Amphitheatre at EMU Faculty of Law building, the event brought the Law Department and, Translation and Interpretation students together with individuals who achieved great success in their respective careers. 

 

The event was attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Arzu Alibaba, the Acting Dean of EMU Faculty of Law; Assist. Prof. Dr. Emine Koçano Rodoslu, the Vice Dean of EMU Faculty of Law; Assist. Prof. Dr. Mutlu Kale, the Director of EMU Foreign Languages and English Preparatory School; Assist. Prof. Dr. Nazime Beysan, EMU Law Club Coordinator; and Senior Instructor Zehra Ertay from TOLES program.

 

TOLES Program and Exam Coordinator, Senior Instructor Peril S. Emiroğluları delivered the opening speech of the event, reminding everyone that EMU has been an active center of TOLES examinations since 2012. Emiroğluları stressed that EMU’s leading role in the field of TOLES. Moreover, Emiroğluları also touched on the TOLES Promotion and Events Team which has recently been launched in the 2024-2025 Academic Year under the body of Law Club, saying that the said team was established with the aim of promoting and increasing the recognition of the program. Emiroğluları noted that the team is focused on enhancing and updating the TOLES program content on the EMU Faculty of Law website, while also striving to expand its reach to a wider audience via the newly launched official EMU TOLES Instagram account.

 

Guest speakers who are experts in their respective fields participated in the event and shared their experiences with the attending students. Among them were Iskenderun Court Judge Esma Nilsu Karadağ, Prosecutor Hüseyin Gökhan Eser from the Law Department of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Legal Advisor and Lawyer Selin Faydalıtürk, Lawyer Tutku Ece Akın from Karataş & Partners Law Firm and, Translator and Interpreter Feza Kılgın.

 

Attracting interest from many students, the event highlighted the importance of the TOLES Legal English Exams—renowned internationally and favoured by top global law firms. Speakers shared how earning the TOLES certificate marked the beginning of their legal careers and offered insights into the opportunities and challenges students may face in the profession. The event concluded on an inspiring note, enriched by thoughtful questions from attendees. In a statement, the EMU Rector’s Office expressed pride in serving as a center for this prestigious international exam, emphasizing the exceptional opportunity it offers to both students and the wider community.
