Journal of Design for Resilience in Architecture & Planning (DRArch) has started its publication life. Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Faculty of Architecture, Department of Interior Architecture academic staff member and the Assistant Director of the Institute for Graduate Studies and Research Prof. Dr. Kağan Günçe is a member of the said journal’s International Advisory Board. The first issue of DRArch was published on Friday, 29 December 2020. The first issue of the academic journal features EMU Architecture Faculty, Interior Architecture Department academic staff member Prof. Dr. Kağan Günçe's article titled "Hybrid Spaces as a Conceptual Framework for Adaptation " co-authored with EMU Faculty of Architecture, Department of Architecture PhD Student Eman Albraifkani.
A New Academic Forum
39 academics from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), Turkey, Japan, U.S.A., Sweden, Poland, Norway, the UK, Netherlands, USA, Italy, Australia, Portugal, Greece and Qatar are in the editorial team of DRArch. DRArch is interested in designs and design methods that can synthesize long-term sustainable and technological developments with inspiration from aesthetics. It is used in design in terms of durability, adaptability to change and the ability to overcome difficulties. Places, buildings and cities designed in accordance with change provide better quality of life. Designs that are resistant, durable and suitable for change mean adapting to change, developing innovative tools, using technology for people and the environment and dealing with flexibility, endurance, mobility and humanity. DRArch is a new forum for a happier and better built environment through combining innovative approaches and existing design know-how.
