Student Clubs Summer Camp organized for the first time this year by the Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Social and Cultural Activities Directorate, concluded with a closing night event. Bringing together student clubs from various universities in Türkiye and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, the camp included a wide range of social, cultural and sports activities. Over 100 students had the opportunity of a joyful and educational experience.

The closing night event was also attended by the EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç, EMU Vice Rector for Student Affairs Prof. Dr. Sonuç Zorlu and EMU Social and Cultural Activities Director Cemal Kılıç.

Making an address at the event, EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç said; “We highly value contributing to our students’ growth beyond academics, focusing on their social and cultural development as well. It was a great pleasure for us to host this event, which fosters solidarity among universities and provides a chance for students from different institutions to discover the cultural and social richness of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus”.

In her speech, Prof. Dr. Sonuç Zorlu said; “This camp provided a meaningful opportunity for students to interact with peers from different cultures and work together in a spirit of collaboration. I sincerely thank all the participating students, student clubs, and everyone who played a role in organizing the event”.

Medals and Certificates of Participation were presented

Students who ranked in the chess and backgammon tournaments organized throughout the camp, were presented with their medals by EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç and Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Sonuç Zorlu. Certificates of participation were also distributed to all students who took part in the camp.

Participating Clubs’ Praise for EMU Summer Camp

Student clubs of universities that attended the camp shared their views on the Student Clubs Summer Camp organized by EMU.

Theatre Society from Akdeniz University expressed their satisfaction by saying:

 “We spent an amazing week thanks to the warm hospitality of the EMU Theatre Club. Even though it was the first time the event was held, it was organized with remarkable professionalism. We are thankful to everyone involved in making it happen. A heartfelt thanks to EMU and especially to the Theatre Club for hosting us so generously — they made us feel truly welcome as a sister club. We absolutely fell in love with Cyprus and managed to explore almost every part of it during the week. It was a fun-filled and unforgettable experience. We hope to come together again next year”.

Stating that they found the camp very beneficial, Theatre Club from the Istanbul Topkapı University said:

 “It was an amazing event. We got to new beautiful places. We recommend everyone to join the camp. We sincerely thank EMU for this experience.”

Istanbul Technical University’s Yoga Club said:

“We had great time at EMU. We built new friendships and had the chance to both relax and socialize. We definitely recommend it to everyone.”

Participating clubs highlighted that the summer camp offered more than just entertainment; it was a valuable opportunity for cultural sharing and building friendships among universities.
