Posters designed by Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Communication Faculty, Visual Arts and Visual Communication Design Department postgraduate students Kenan Münür Türktan (Cyprus) and Yaşar Kızıltan (Cyprus) and Communication and Media Studies PhD Student Aida Sahebkari (Iran) achieved great success after having being selected within the top 30 in an international design competition.

Organized by the University of Bologna, Amnesty International (Amnesty International) Italia and Conversazioni sul fu - turo, Diffondiamo idee di valore for the release of Patrick Zaki, a student of University of Bologna who was arrested on 7 February 2020, the competition hosted a design event under the title of "FREE PATRICK ZAKI" and the organisation of Poster for Tomorrow. 905 works of art from 45 different countries participated in the said design event. The posters designed as part of the event protest the restriction of the freedom of Patrick Zaki, who is pursuing gender studies at the postgraduate level at the University of Bologna.
“We Wish Patrick Zaki to be Released Immediately"
EMU Communication Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Senih Çavuşoğlu stated that they condemn the arrest of Zaki for the alleged crime of thought and his unjustly imprisonment in very bad conditions for the last year, and that they wish Patrick Zaki to be released as soon as possible. Prof. Dr. Çavuşoğlu emphasized that they are proud that the works of 3 EMU students were among the 30 best designs out of nearly 1,000 participants from 45 different countries at the event, which was organized to raise awareness on the most fundamental human rights, freedom to express ideas and thought.
