“GENDER IN CONSTITUTIONAL COURT DECISIONS” SEMINAR HELD IN EMU LAW FACULTY

The second seminar of the “People Worrying about Injustice: Cultured Lawyer Seminar Series" initiated by Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) Law Faculty and Law Club operating under Social and Cultural Activities Directorate was held in EMU Law Faculty.

The event in which Law Faculty academic staff member Assist. Prof. Dr. Bezar Eylem Ekinci participated as a speaker discussed the “Gender in Constitutional Court Decisions" topic. The definition of gender was primarily discussed during the seminar. Then, the decisions of the Constitutional Court on gender were interpreted within the framework of the legislation that has changed over the years. While examining the topic, the amendments made since the 1924 Constitution of the Republic of Turkey until today were discussed and the relevant articles of the Turkish Penal Code and the Turkish Civil Code were also examined. The seminar ended with a question and answer session.
