‘INTBAU DIALOGUES II’ Held in Collaboration with EMU Faculty of Architecture, Department of Architecture

Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU), Faculty of Architecture, Department of Architecture has recently organized the “INTBAU DIALOGUES II” conference in collaboration with the INTBAU Cyprus. The event which took place at EMU Faculty of Architecture, was held within the framework of two main themes: “Cultural Heritage in Times of Conflict and Disaster” and “Traditional Architecture in Contemporary Times”.

The opening speeches of the conference were delivered by the Chair of EMU Department of Architecture Prof. Dr. Rafooneh Moktarshani, the Vice Chair of INTBAU MT and Chair of INTBAU Cyprus Prof. Dr. Özgür Dinçyürek and, INTBAU Executive Director Harriet Wennberg. Students, academic staff members and guests demonstrated great interest in the speeches.

 

The conference, conducted in a hybrid format, included invited presentations from Prof. Dr. Giuseppe Amuroso, Dr. Aylin Akçabozan Taşkıran, Prof. Dr. Can Şakir Binan, Georgia Cristea, and Prof. Dr. Çiğdem Polatoğlu Serter.

 

During the conference, the measures taken and necessary future actions after the earthquake disaster were reviewed, with particular attention to several cities in Italy and Hatay province in Türkiye. Furthermore, the event featured an academic discussion on the policies and practices implemented for protecting cultural heritage in both Romania and Türkiye.

 

The event featured representation at the president level from INTBAU Cyprus, as well as INTBAU Türkiye, Romania, the United Kingdom, and Italy. By fostering an interdisciplinary exchange of knowledge and emphasizing international collaboration, the conference became a prominent platform within its field.
