Delivering the opening speech of the ceremony, EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Aykut Hocanın stated that EMU's only duty is not only education and research but also to serve the community. Pointing out that entrepreneurship is an area that they attach particular importance to in terms of the emergence of new initiatives related to the solution of problems and the success of female and male entrepreneurs at the international level, Rector Prof. Dr. Hocanın said: “Having GIKAD collaborating with our university holds great importance for us. As a state university, it is our responsibility to support entrepreneurship and direct female students to fields related to this initiative. Nearly half of our executives at EMU are women and they take office by election. This means that our women are naturally successful when equal opportunities are provided. I hope we will get fruitful outcomes as a result of this cooperation".

“We have a Long Way to Go, a lot of Women to Support"

Stating that they are proud for signing such an agreement with EMU, GIKAD Director İçim Çağıner Kavuklu also delivered a speech and said; “EMU is such an important value for our country. We are always proud to have such an institution in Cyprus. Even though it has been only a year since we launched our association, we set up a communication network with our members consisting of inspiring women who have reached a certain level in professional fields, social responsibility projects, art, and science from nearly 150 different professional fields. Our ultimate goal is to have women in the entrepreneurship ecosystem. As a matter of fact, we have succeeded to reach a specific place in the entrepreneurship ecosystem with both national and international connections. We have a long way to go, a lot of women to support. Women should not only be participants but also be leaders in every area of life. Our association aims to help women while they join the economy and become entrepreneurs in rural areas. There is a huge number of women who need support from us which gives us the strength and power to continue our work. We are planning to use the opportunities provided by EMU in helping women in rural areas".
